5 Seconds

5 seconds is not a long time. One thousand one... one thousand two... one thousand three... one thousand four... one thousand five. Give or take a split. But it seemed an inordinate amount of time to sit before a computer, hands at the ready on mouse and keyboard, staring at the monitor trying to figure out what's wrong. Then it hit me. Forgot to turn the computer on. 5 seconds. I'm onna a roll this morning. Allow me to share with you why I'm glad it's my day off.
I took one picture while out on the Front Porch. The WIP. Stepped outside, planted Fanny on the step and we readied ourselves to enjoy the morning. Checked the weather, 30°, snapped the WIP, stood back up and came back inside to thaw out. Took approximately 5 seconds. I stood in the entryway shivering and thinking I forgot something. Took 5 seconds for me to realize I abandoned Camera and Phone on the Porch step. Whoopsie. I spent another 5 seconds retrieving them. Went upstairs, opened the refrigerator. Spent at least 5 seconds trying to remember why I was there. Oh yeah. Half and Half for my coffee. Came back down stairs, stood in the hallway thinking I forgot something. Oh yeah. The Half and Half that I left sitting on the counter upstairs. Rage meter has initiated launch sequence. Trounced back upstairs, making sure each step knew the rage meter had been activated. Retrieved Half and Half, trounced back down stairs, making sure each step knew the rage meter was still up and running. Prepared coffee. With extra sugar cus I felt I deserved it. Took a sip and felt better. Coffee wasn't good but at least it was sweet enuf to not be vile tasting. Heard a crow outside. Ah! A visitor! Rage meter forgotten! Reached for my camera. It took five seconds for my brain to tell my hand that Camera was not where my hand obviously thought it was. I admit that it took much longer than 5 seconds to remember that Phone and Camera were sitting on the counter upstairs. That's right, sitting on the counter. Upstairs. Right where I put them when retrieving the Half and Half. Rage meter initiates launch sequence, again. I'll spare you the lengthy details. Back down stairs at the window Camera took a video clip of my Crow visitor, as a focused picture through the screen proved to be too much to ask. A big yellow school bus scared off my visitor, BUT, I got a few seconds of video. Perhaps enuf for a screenshot. Sat down at the computer and this is where we started the report with '5 seconds is not a long time.' But I'm not done yet. I stupidly thought I was done when I started this report. Took 5 seconds to download the contents of Camera, all one picture and one video worth, into Computer. I just start examining the video for a clean screenshot when I hear another Crow! Grab camera and dash all 2 feet to the window. Spent 5 seconds looking for my visitor before accepting that he must have flown off. Back to Computer and video clip. Wait, I hear him again! Dash to window. 5 second look. Huh. Gone. Sit back down. Re-examine video. Crow is back!! Half way out of the chair my ears finally tell my brain that the crow I'm hearing is ON the video, not outside. Ooooookaaaay. As I said, I'm so glad it's my day off. It's gonna be a Witcher 2 kinda day. Werks fer me. I hope your day is Fine, Fun and Fantastic with nothing but flawless 5 second intervals. :) And may Love and Happiness be with you, always.

CROW PICTURE!
A blurry shot but a gorgeous bird to be sure.
