Peacock Spiders

Good morning.
I'm feeling a bit lavender today.
Not entirely sure what that means, but there ya go.
I have a visitor this morning. A bit difficult to see in the above picture.
Allow me to zoom in.
There she be! Just a mild jolt to the heart.
Speaking of spiders, if you have been introduced to the Peacock Spider, aren't they THE most adorable things ever!!?? If you haven't been introduced, you need to be! YouTube search "Peacock Spider Staying Alive" and you will see 51 different varieties of this great little spider dancing for his ladies attention, courtesy of Jurgen Otto's fabulous video's. A quickly edited screenshot:
Maratus Speciosus
I LOVE these spiders!!
I guess all but one are native Australians.
They aren't all this colorful, but a great many are. They're about the size of a pencil eraser, if lucky. Tiny little things. Great dancers!
But, back to my visitor.
I'm not keen on letting her stay, but the oogie factor kicks in. I can't just put her outside. It's certain death by freezing. And I refuse to be the instrument of her death. I admire the fact that she has managed to survive the winter. So, what to do, what to do? I gotta go to work right now, so I'll decide later.
Nutshell weather-
Fair skies
30°
82% humidity
Calm winds
BRB, it's Wip time!
A fair WIP. What it cannot convey to you is the NOISE! In the 15 seconds I stood out on the Front Porch, I heard front doors slamming (yes, plural), garage doors opening (yes, again, plural), car doors slamming (yes, plural yet again), assorted neighbors coughing, clearing their throats or saying goodbye to their loved ones, a Robin singing, a Chickadee singing, a Crow cawing, a red squirrel chittering, a dog barking and the traffic NOISE coming from the highway had it's volume up full blast this morning!
Time for me to go!
Good day to you, Travelers!
Remember, Peacock Spider Staying Alive.
Really, who wouldn't love dancing spiders, disco music and the Bee Gees, all in one place!?

Coco De Mer

Fair skies
22°
96% humidity
Calm winds
Weather inna nutshell...yeah, that would fit inna nutshell. A walnut shell. With the correct font and proper grade of paper, it should fit with no problem...
hang on a sec...
WOW!
For someone who loves to babble I decided to Google the "worlds largest nut." I mean, seriously, a babbler needs a large nutshell. Well, here we go!!
Introducing the Coco de Mer-
I borrowed this picture from a site called kidsneedenrichment.com. I hope that is ok.
This nut averages half a meter in size, although there are pictures of much larger specimens. It comes in a very distinct shape that has, no doubt, increased it's reputation for being an aphrodisiac. A shape which has turned it into the brunt of many prank pictures. All kidding and inuendo aside, that's the size nutshell a babbler like me needs! I could fit quite a bit of babble into that shell!

I need a WIP to go with the current conditions.

Sunny

42° with a few clouds, 82% humidity and 5 mph West winds.
Sunny today.
The squirrels have come out to play.

Sunday, February 25, 2018

Snowy

Snowy today.
When this picture was taken at 11:39 am, it was 32° with 96% humidity and snowing with winds at 7 mph.
A quiet peaceful day.
It is now 11:31 pm and time for bed.
Good night, Sweet Dreamers.

Sunny

Currently 33° with 100% humidity, calm wind and fair skies.
A "Sunny" day with winds up to 15 mph and an expected high of 47°.
Snow storm tomorrow.
It's gonna be a beautiful sunny day today, tho.

We had color this morning!
Samcam caught a little bit of the color.
May a great day be yours, Travelers.
And keep dreaming those dreams of yours. They may come true!

Rain/Snow Likely

Currently it's 20° with 85% humidity, 3 mph winds and fair skies. The day is supposed to start out sunny and then "Rain/Snow Likely" with little to no accumulation and winds up to 10 mph.
A WIP that illustrates the current conditions rather well.
Looks exactly like yesterdays, except it was 15 degrees warmer yesterday!!!
It's brrrr out on the Front Porch today!!
Have a good day, Travelers.
May Love and Happiness always be yours.

Birdbath Or No

Too much YouTube this morning! Lots of bird bath ideas. But while I was cruising through the videos for these ideas to help me finish my own birdbath, I clicked on one of a praying mantis feeding on a hummingbird. Clicked off immediately but TOO LATE! COULDN'T GET THAT IMAGE OUTTA MY HEAD!! After watching some crafting videos and then some more pleasant hummingbird videos, the image is fading to the background. Now I'm running behind. At least my lunch is made.
So... whaddaya think? Will it work as a birdbath?
I LOVE the contrast between the old cast iron and the new stainless steel. I can use tent stakes to secure it to the ground and the depth of the bowl is an issue easily solved with rock and gravel. BUT... *heavy sigh*... after viewing video's of DIY birdbaths, the rim on this bowl will not allow the birds to safely perch and that will prevent them from visiting a second time. Yet another conundrum with this set-up is, how do I securely attach the bowl to the candle holder in such a way that the birds can use it without having it fall apart on them? A way that will also allow easy removal of the pan for cleaning AND keep the aesthetically clean look. Then we have the squirrels... my brain is slow to come up with solutions to these problems, however, Brain is also telling me the solutions are already in my head. I just haven't found them yet. I have 13 more days to ponder these issues for answers or return it all for a refund.
TIME TO GO!
Weather is thus:
35°
Overcast
44% humidity
Calm (actually there is no wind speed, just a NA. But it WAS calm 2 hours ago)
Samcam is upset. One picture and a 5 second Front Porch visit is just NOT right.
But I'm running late!
A beautifully illustrated, current weather conditions, WIP.
Te quiero, Travelers!

Dreamers Of Dreams

The preceding WIP was taken at 11:09 this morning. It is now 7 pm and it's too dark for a current "illustration of the weather" picture. So, this morning when the WIP was taken, it temp was 44° with 100% humidity, 6 mph winds out of the South and overcast with Fog/Mist. Foggy for 2 days now. Although the Sun managed to burn it off by 1 o'clock. The 7 pm conditions are 58° (we topped out at 62!!!), 81% humidity, overcast with 6 mph winds out of the NW. Just got back from seeing Black Panther with Natalie, and it felt like a summer evening! That breeze was wonderful. A 'windows down in the car" ride home.
Decent movie, by the way.
Have a good evening and a great night, my fellow Dreamers.

Movie Misquotes

37°. It's 37°! Humidity is 100%, the winds are calm and apparently we have possible Fog/Mist out on the Front Porch. We're expecting a high of 46° with "Chance Rain and Patchy Fog." A rainy day.
What in the world did I do to my coffee!? I've accepted the fact that I am a putrid coffee maker, but this mornings cup has taken putrid to a higher level of putridness. I'm making a new pot!
...
While the new pot of coffee is brewing, Samcam wants to go play with the mist.
...
Well, I can say that my new pot of coffee achieved it's normal level of putridness. I'm thinking maybe I made the new pot over old grounds? It looked clean, I seem to remember cleaning the basket out, but something went horrible wrong with the first pot. Tis a mystery.
The Front Porch is definitely enjoying Fog/Mist this morning. Samcam can show you the mist, but it was too dark out to capture a good pic of the fog.
VERY misty out there. You'll hopefully trust me when I say it is also Foggy out there. I could see it, but Samcam couldn't.
Thumb decided to play with Samcam. I haven't posted an abstract thumb shot in quite a while. I'm thinking maybe they're popping up because I'm using Samcam instead of Pancam. Anyway, here's this morning's masterpiece by Thumb.
Just imagine that on a 4 foot by 6 foot canvas! Yeah... no. Definitely not.
A WIP will be forthcoming. Soon as the dawn allows. In the meantime, my breakfast is waiting, along a couple of YouTube videos while I eat.
:)
...
Misquoted movies lines. My YouTube fix for this morning.
A few examples:
"Jaws"-
We're gonna need a bigger boat. WRONG
You're gonna need a bigger boat. RIGHT

"Empire Strikes back"-
Luke, I am your father. WRONG
No, I am your father. RIGHT

"Wizard Of Oz"-
Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore. WRONG
Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore. RIGHT

"Field Of Dreams"-
If you build it, they will come. WRONG
If you build it, he will come. RIGHT

"Silence Of The Lambs"-
Hello, Clarice. WRONG
Good evening, Clarice. RIGHT
Well, gee... I have been misquoting.

"There's a fog bank out there."
I'm probably misquoting that one, too.
Have a good day, Travelers. And may your misquotes be few!!

Nappin' On The Job

Nappin' on the job here. Started the report this morning. Can't say good morning now. But I can say
Good evening from the Front Porch.
The current conditions, to go with the above WIP are 41° with mostly cloudy skies, 86% humidity and 7 mph winds.

This morning's WIP, below, illustrates the 33°, fair skies, 85% humidity and 5 mph winds we were enjoying at 8:13 am.

Samcam also tried to take a portrait of the little Chickadee who paid us a visit.
Cute little guy.
Head can't do this any more. Too much brain drain.
Have a good evening, and a glorious night filled with the sweetest dreams.

A Wake Up To A Wonderland

7:05 am. It snowed last night. A nice wake up to a beautiful winter wonderland. Hang on... Camera threw me off. Took me way too long to figure out that the time disparity confusing my body clock with regards to the time stamped on the pictures was from Samcam being on spring time, not autumn time. Samcam has been in the Camera bag for a long time. ...Samcam... I like it. Who else do I have? ... :) COOL! :) I no longer have 2 of my cameras. The ones I have abused into retirement, but still treasure and keep in my cambag, total 4. Samcam is technically Camera  #5 (my fav so far but don't tell the others. Might hurt their feelings.) Then, I have #6- Pancam :), #4- Soncam :) and last but not least, #3 Cancam :). Oh yeah! That WORKS!! Cameras have officially been named!

9:08 am. Time to move some snow. What a difference 2 hours makes in the lighting. Samcam likes light. Well, that kinda goes without saying. ALL cameras like light.
The ground is still very slippery. L came in from the snow moving mission and said he "took a digger out there." His shin is sportin' a monstrous sized contusion as a result. L, honey, I think you're gonna feel that one in the morning.
Me and my 'Ice Traction Slip-ons' were definitely willing to give shoveling a go. But all we managed to clear was the Front Porch before my face informed me it had had enough. Specifically my left sinuses. That or the broken bone. Or both. They are protesting the cold air with a great deal of discomfort. So much so that, had they a voice, the royal cussing-out aimed at me for treating them in such a careless manner, would still be in progress. A most decidedly inconvenient chapter in the continuing saga of Brokenface.
*humphf*

10:39 am. The trees are losing their snowcoats. The wind is cleaning off the branches fast. At times, it looks like it's snowing in the sunshine. Purdy purdy purdy. S made us breakfast. A delicious breakfast, I might add. Superb ham and cheese omelet with toast and a most delicious plum jam. Can't get any better than that!!

1:19 pm. The trees are pretty much bare now. "Time keeps on slippin' slippin' slippin ..." I have no explanation how The Steve Miller Band fits into all this. I'm just doing the typing. I gotta go to the store. Shopping for detergent is NOT a fun time. It's a chore. One that has me seriously contemplating my laundry situation. Do I really need to do laundry today? Or, can it wait until tomorrow? Better yet, do I even need detergent to wash my clothes? Probably be much more environmentally friendly to do away with detergent altogether and find an alternative. *heavy sigh* Yes, I know. Why put off today... yada yada yada.
*Humphf*
To the store, then.
*Double humphf*
I'm not even a Steve Miller fan.
?

3:03 pm. If I hadn't seen the snow falling early this morning, or the trees covered with the stuff when visiting the Front Porch, I would never believe that it snowed last night. I gotta get a load of laundry going. Otherwise I dragged my self outta the house for no good reason.

5:29 pm. Twilight is upon us and I realize I never reported the weather. WHAT was I thinking? Currently we are enjoying 36° of fair skies, with 57% humidity and 5 mph winds. It stopped snowing sometime before 9 am, the skies cleared by 10 am and stayed fair the rest of the day. The winds peaked at 6 mph and the temperature reached a high of 40°. A very nice, mild winter day.
May the rest of your day be wonderful, and your dreams tonight be sweet.
Love and Happiness be yours!
Time to dry some clothes...

"Isn't Fun The Best Thing To Have!?"

BTW,
Firehouse Subs is expensive. Cost me 12 bucks for a medium steak and cheese sub, single serve bag of chips, soda and a pickle. 12 bucks. HOW-EV-ER, it was THE best tasting sub sandwich I have had in YEARS! AND, if you round up to the nearest dollar when paying, the proceeds go to First Responders. I am SO all about that!! Sorry Subway, but Firehouse has stolen my heart!!
Weather... no, no, no, wait a minute. Coffee first...
Putrid. My coffee is putrid. But when I take it to work and dump it over ice, it ends up pretty delish.
Weather.
21 dees grees on the Front Porch. 50% humidity, 3 mph winds and fair skies round out the weather quadriptych, painted up by Mother Nature, all for our climate enjoyment this morning. At least in our neck of the woods. Mother Nature paints a LOT everyday. And in different colors everywhere she goes. Pretty amazing artist, if you ask me.
Forecast calls for STORM and THUNDER! Kidding. For today, we can expect increasing clouds with a high of 30 and Northwest winds of 5 to 10 mph.
The snow storm is tomorrow.
Pictures. We need a WIP! SPEAKING OF PICTURES!!! I'm buying a trail cam for the back yard!! I love tax return time! I get to play a little. I'm hoping to catch and share some decent pictures of the back yard visitors, even when I'm not around to greet them. This is gonna be fun! And,
"isn't fun the best thing to have!?"
(a quote from the movie 'Arthur', as played by Dudley Moore. Brilliant movie.)
Still not WIP time.
...
Ok, WIP time.
With a little imagination to add the wind and cold, this WIP illustrates the weather on the Front Porch very well.
May the weather be colorfully painted wherever you go, Travelers.
Good day!

Yeah Yeah Yeah

Phone says it's 34° on the Front Porch. A warm morning. Phone also says... I hate it when I burn my cast iron skillet. That's what happens when I decide to cook and pack a lunch at the same time. My burger tastes fine but... oh, wait a sec. We were doing the weather. Yeah.
Phone says it's also overcast, with 100% humidity and calm winds. Must go see and feel for myself how warm... did I turn the burner off? Yes, I think I did... "I think I did" isn't good enuf to reassure me. Be right back... Yep. I did. Yeah.
Phone also says the high today should be around 46 and that, quote, "Chance Showers and Patchy Fog then Mostly Cloudy." Works. 'Course, even if it didn't work it still would work, cus we have no choice but to make it work, right? Yeah.
I've resolved to eliminate "got nuttin' " from these weather reports, cus the weather is sumpin'. So, even when I got nuttin' I really do got sumpin' cus of the weather. Yeah.
Back scratchers are wonderful inventions, doncha think? Yeah.
Ooops. I gotta dry my clothes! Just enuf time to dry them and then leave for work. I need to go clean my skillet. *heavy sigh* There goes my wonderful no-stick carbon coating till I manage to cook a new coat on my skillet. Yeah.
C'mon Camera. We need a WIP fer this mornin's weather report... Hold on. My nose is running. Most inconvenient as I still cannot blow my nose. I was told by the Ear/Nose/Throat Doc to give it another week. But I can sniff all I want. That reminds me, he wanted me to get some saline nasal spray for my sniff-appendage, when I do sniff. Must write that down. Yeah.
Not having enuf pockets to carry all my shi.. ahh, stuff, yeah, is decidedly irritating. How am I supposed to carry all this "stuff" without... purses are outta the question. Much as I love the bright and vibrant colors of certain Vera Bradly handbags, I cannot carry a purse, even one I would LOVE, as I have an unbreakable habit of leaving them EVERYWHERE I go. Having to replace the contents over and over again is too much of a strain on the wallet. I need more cargo pants! Yeah.
Nose, you can stop running anytime.
Camera. Let's go...
It is indeed foggy out there. I can feel it as well as see it. Took the flash to catch some of the moisture in the air in a picture
Here's what it really looks like out there.
Yeah.
Have a Great, Grand and Glorious day, Travelers.
Te quiero.

A "Procedure" and Stormsmell

When calling a doctor to make an appointment after an injury, nothing strikes fear... no, not fear. More like TERROR... nothing strikes terror in my heart more than being warned that a "procedure" might be necessary. Doctors talk a great deal about uncooperative patients. As the Joker said, "wait'll they get a load of me."
Doctors...
*heavy sigh*
On a brighter note, we have the Weather! One thing about the weather, we can ALWAYS count on it to show up! Today, the Front Porch is enjoying... *heavy sigh*... where's Phone? I realize the weather is just as easily accessed on the computer, however, the chore of reporting the current conditions has been assigned to Phone. Hold on while I hunt for the prankster that my Phone has become. A Phone with phantom feet.
A "procedure?"
...
Not Phone's fault after all. I had come downstairs to get something and got distracted by the computer. Phone was waiting patiently right where I left it. No phantom foot syndrome this time.
What "procedure?"
Weather! Let's do the weather.
20° right now. Served up with that 20° is 96% humidity, calm winds and fair skies. Forecast is calling for a high of 46 with increasing clouds. And there you have it. Except for a WIP. Which will be taken as soon as Camera has a little dawning light to work with.
Exactly what do they mean by "a procedure?"
I still need to see about a lunch for today. Wait. No I don't. I've already decided to buy something somewhere. Yeah, but what? Fast food is outta the question right now as I cannot find ANYTHING that tastes good in that particular field of food service. Have you noticed how EVERYTHING at McD's shares a bitter "flavor?" Even their soda has this bitterness. The only thing that I have had at McD's in the last few years that didn't have this peculiar "flavor" was the ice cream.
Trying hard not to imagine a "procedure."
Arby's has ok food but their cheese tastes... well... funny. Not to mention the fact that their food is tough to eat, which isn't a problem for the young at teeth. Then we have Wendy's... their meat doesn't even LOOK like meat. OH! Subway! Their food actually looks like food! Wait. Firehouse! I haven't tried Firehouse! There, we have it. Lunch has been decided.
A "PROCEDURE?"
My head is conjuring up graphic visuals of potential "procedures."
WHAT "procedure?"
Is it time for a WIP yet? C'mon Camera. Let's go check out Dawn's early light.
... stupid procedure...
Dawn's Early Light
Smells ozoney out there. Ozone. I don't even know what ozone smells like. Or why my head thinks of that word when I smell the scent that I smelled outside this morning. It's not an unpleasant odor. I actually like it. I know there is some association I am making with the odor as I feel sweetly nostalgic for some reason, when ever I get a wiff of that slightly electrical fragrance. Stormsmell. Usually I smell it before, during or after a storm. Henceforth, I shall try to think of this odor as Stormsmell.
I like it!
Have a good day, my beloved Travelers. And may the word "procedure" never have reason to strike fear in your heart!
Footprints in the snow.
Mine.
I was taking the path of least slippage!

No Brain Conundrums Allowed Yet

Weather. I think that's all I got today. The weather ain't nuttin' so I ain't gonna say I got nuttin'. Although, I just said it. Does saying I'm not gonna say something count as not saying it? Or have I actually said it when I said I'm not gonna say it?
Recovering from a concussion, I'm supposed to be resting my brain, not throwing conundrums at it.
Weather:
30°!? That makes it a warm winter day in these parts!!
Mostly cloudy. I haven't been outside to check that yet.
75% humidity. Yeah, well, whatever they say. I got no way to confirm that point.
Southwest 9 mph winds. Windy? That means wind chill.
Today's forecast:
Windy and mostly sunny with a high of 42. A warm, sunny winter day made chilly by the wind.
Almost WIP time. Camera, prepare yourself.
...
A tad windy out there. And definitely cloudy right now.
May the day be a good one for you, Travelers!

Lurking In The Fringes

17° huh? I guess that's better than the 10 predicted by the weather guessers. 51% humidity, 5 mph West winds and fair skies. Then we have "Sunny with a high of 28" as the weather called for today.
My first day back to work since the epic 'Icy Ground vs Face' battle last Thursday. A battle the Ice definitely won. But I'm ready for work. Boredom is trying to creep in. Boredom is NOT something I easily succumb to. But I can see it's shadow lurking about in the fringes. YouTube, computer games (Evil Within. Graphic yes, but my kinda game!), card making, Netflix, sleeping and whatever else I've been doing but have forgotten I've been doing it, are struggling to fend off boredom's advance. Work. I NEED work!
Too early yet for an attempt to capture an illustration of the current weather conditions so I'm gonna go pack a lunch. Leftover spaghetti. S makes a mean spaghetti. I just realized, with the help of the squiggly red line of ignorance, that I've never known how to spell spaghetti. Did you know there is an H in spaghetti!? Huh. The old adage is true. Ya learn sumpin' new everyday. Gotta be paying attention, though. Else you'll miss it. Then again, my not knowing how to spell spaghetti this morning could also be addled brain syndrome. Face plants can have that effect.
Lunch packing time.
BRB
...
Cold out. Pretty too.

And lurking in the fringes,

a single star that I could see, still shining in the sky for me.
May a good day be yours, Travelers!

Monday, February 12, 2018

So...

So...
What have we got today...
33°, 100% humidity, 3 mph winds and "a few clouds" Of course I must go confirm this.
Nice out there.
The weather augurers got it right this morning. Looked and felt just like they said. Although, the wind really did feel stronger than 3 mph.
So...
What are we gonna get later...
Mostly cloudy, gradually becoming sunny, high near 39 with winds from the Northwest up to 10 mph. That means more melting. Check out Lake M!
The Lake is at least ankle deep. The city has plans for fixing this problem. It truly is the city's property, ergo, their responsibility, but they keep putting it on the back burner. Blast 'em. Still, for reasons unknown even to moi, I already know a part of me will miss Lake M when it's gone. It's part of the personality of this house. And I LOVE the personality of this house!! But change is inevitable and necessary... babbling...
So...
What do we have coming tonight...
Mostly clear with a low of 10 and accompanied with 5 mph Northwest winds. I know where I'm NOT parking tonight. Don't want Trusty's short little legs frozen in ice. More importantly, Ice and I have called a truce. I don't walk on it and it won't slip me up. What a brilliant idea! Shoulda thought of it sooner.
So...
Have a great day Travelers.
May your life be slip and trip free and may all your falls be deliberate, well planned and perfectly excuted, to insure they are injury free!
Toodles!

Crows Outside

I hear Crows outside. Lets go see if they want their picture taken.
Of course, Crow didn't want his picture. Centuries of being shot at with rocks, arrows and bullets have Crows on their guard whenever ANYTHING is pointed at them, including your finger.
I do believe he was sitting right above the line drawn in the photo.
I caught evidence of his visit as he flew off!
That's all today. I... Well, I can at least do the weather.
Overcast skies, 33°, 96% humidity and 5 mph winds. A high of 36 has been predicted, along with "Rain/Sleet then Rain"
Have a good day, Travelers.

Saturday, February 10, 2018

Limited Exposure

After a day in bed I'm feeling better, but
I'm limiting my exposure to a bright screen so this will be brief.
The weather is currently (it's almost noon) 36°, 97% humidity, calm winds and Fog/Mist. The high is expected to be around 41 and rain is likely.
I'm gonna CAREFULLY step outside and see if Camera is up for a picture.
BRB...
Good job, Camera.
Have a good day, Travelers!

We Got Snow

Did I mention we had a GREAT sunrise the other morning?
Yes, I remember that I did.
Did I mention that we were expected to have a snowstorm yesterday?
Well, we had a snowstorm yesterday. We were listed as one of the places with a snowfall total of one foot.
This morning the current conditions are 21°, 81% humidity, 7 mph winds and fair skies with a forecast of sunny, high near 29 and Northwest winds up to 10 mph.
A WIP is forthcoming. But first I must dig Trusty a path to the street so I can get to work this morning.
...
15 minutes of shoveling and I got the Front Porch uncovered! I'm gonna finish my coffee and relax. I have already informed work that my eta this morning will be 9 am. Maybe. I refuse to be the first to shatter the morning peace with a snowblower. More importantly, I refuse to wake L or S so rudely. EBT is a wonderful thing.
:)
I am going to go out and see if the Moon and what I think is Jupiter, are still showing off their beautiful light.
BRB
...
The Moon. The Planets.
What a beautiful show they put on.
Time to shovel some more snow!
...
Another 30 minutes of shoveling (at the very least) and I got my car cleared of snow but not the ice underneath. Thawing out my toes at the moment. They're starting to feel alive again. The house is awake and moving! L is warming up Snowblower right now. My toes are telling me to give it another go. We're off to move some more snow! Maybe I'll remember to let Camera out of the pocket it's in to snap a couple of pictures.
...
Camera never got the chance to play. I unilaterally decided it would be more fun to spend the morning in the emergency room attending a lecture regarding how best to take care of a concussion, a broken orbital bone and stitches above my eye.
Note to self- avoid icy conditions that may lead to smashing one's face into the ground.
May you never EVER have a broken orbital bone.
Must lay down...

Recent YouTube Junkie

Recently I have become a YouTube junkie. I find myself watching videos of an eclectic variety. Trail camera footage, for example. My fav right now. Makes me want a trail cam for the M Woods. I could catch the antics of the squirrels, chippys, birds and the occasional possum, raccoon, dog, cat, or whatever it is that likes to leave tracks around the yard. Yeah. I would LOVE that! No shortage of visitor pictures! Tax return time, it's happenin'! Then, there are videos of junk journaling, abstract watercolors, old time dance routines, shag dancing (SHAG dancing?), the occasional history documentary of Egypt or Rome, saving whales, mantas or sea turtles from fishing lines and nets, old commercials, "WHERE'S THE BEEF!?". You get the idea. Some are so obviously bogus. Disturbingly so. Nothing but crap people stage just trying to cash in on the money a potential viral video can make them. A pox upon them. Didn't take me long to know which ones I won't watch. But some appear to be genuine and others very instructional.
Weather! We are going to have some interesting weather today. Current conditions are... lost phone...
Ok, found phone. And in my wanderings, found my abandoned coffee in the microwave. Weather! Right now we have °, % humidity, winds, and skies.
:)
I'm waiting for an update.
Ah, here we go. 14°, 92% humidity, calm winds and overcast skies. But it's the forecast for today that's interesting. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for our area, highlighted in red, indicating potentially dangerous conditions-
"Snow that could be heavy at times. High near 31. NE winds around 5 mph. Chance of precip 100%. Total daytime accumulation 5 to 9 inches." Well, goody! The preceding really shouldn't be in quotes as it is a paraphrased version. The stats and predictions are exact, however. Hence the quotations.
Whatever. As long as I get back from work to enjoy it from the warmth and safety of this most excellent of homes. Another 2 to 4 inches of snowfall is predicted tonight. I wonder... when does the daytime forecast end and the nighttime forecast begin? I'm gonna hafta watch the hourly updates this afternoon and find out! If I remember.
Babble! Too much babble!
WIP time! Then it's off to work with me!
A good day to you Travelers! May safety and warmth always be yours. They're too precious to take for granted.
I forgot Camera took this next one!

More News Than The Weather

Good morning.
Currently it is a fantastic 39° on the Front Porch. The 93% humidity, overcast skies and... calm winds?... ah, no. Not calm. The wind out there felt so wonderful. Too wonderful to get upset at the WeeGees for getting it wrong. The forecast for today calls for a high of 39, mostly cloudy and with Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph. That is EXACTLY what we have right now. Good job WeeGees.
In other news
Gotta a snowstorm predicted for Wednesday. Preliminary guess, 3 to 5 inches.
There was a horrible Amtrak derailment yesterday in South Carolina. 2 dead, 116 injured. Pictures of the crash site are horrific. The fact that the Engineer and the Conductor were, so far, the only fatalities, makes me wonder if their quick reactions weren't somehow responsible for the low death toll. That would make them heroes, in my book. Only a good investigation will tell the story. My heart goes out to the families of those lost, and to all those injured.
The Pats lost the Superbowl last night. Spell check insisted I capitalize the s in superbowl to remove the squiggly red line of admonition for improper spelling. Does this mean we are one step closer to declaring the day a national holiday? I mean, even spellcheck says it's not the superbowl, it's the
"Superbowl."
I have a final 3 episodes of Altered Carbon to binge watch, when next I can indulge. Decent show, however, it's for adults. Make sure the children are not in the room.
Things to do, places to be and rooms that need cleaning!
Have a good day...
Wait! The WIP for the day!
Pretty accurate Weather Illustration Picture.
See the hose? It is facilitating the draining of Lake Merganser.
The lake Trusty decided to park right in the middle of.
Drainage has been directed to the M Woods.
L is my hero!

Two visitors today! Actually, more than that. But the flock of Mourning doves I am counting as one. Camera only managed to catch 2 of them in a rather blurry photo. There were at least 8 of them.

A blurry profile of a Crow singing his little heart out in a tree across the street is evidence of our second visitor.
Question. Can one accurately describe the cawing of a Crow as singing?
May your day be wonderful, Travelers.
And do as the Irish say,
"sing as if no one is listening."
